They bring a dynamic texture and a welcome splash of green to a mixed reef aquarium, making them a fixture in many hobbyists’ tanks. This specimen measures approximately 13cm.    Finger Leathers, often from the Sarcophyton or Sinularia genus, typically grow into a tree-like or encrusting form, extending numerous polyps from their surface. When happy, these polyps will extend fully, giving the coral a fuzzy, living appearance and a vibrant green hue. The polyps retract when disturbed or at night, revealing the leathery texture of the coral body. These corals can shed their outer layer periodically, a process called sloughing, to remove algae and detritus.    As a soft coral, the Green Finger Leather is relatively hardy. It appreciates moderate lighting, with a PAR range of 50-150. Placement in the mid-to-upper levels of the rockwork or on the sandbed, where it can receive moderate, indirect water flow, is generally best. They primarily gain nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae within their tissues but will benefit from occasional feeding of fine particulate foods. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. These corals are not generally aggressive but should be given adequate space to avoid chemical warfare with more sensitive corals.
