These tentacles can be quite long, creating a lot of movement in the water column as they sway. At night, or when disturbed, the tentacles retract completely into its skeletal base. It is a solitary, unattached coral that can move itself around the sandbed to a limited extent.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor care, Heliofungia corals require a soft substrate to rest on, as their fleshy underside is easily damaged by hard rockwork. They prefer low to moderate water flow and moderate lighting, with a PAR range of about 75-150. Direct, high-intensity light can cause bleaching. While photosynthetic, they benefit from occasional target feeding with meaty foods like mysis or brine shrimp. Maintain stable water parameters, including calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. One important consideration is its potent sting; the long tentacles can damage or kill neighbouring corals, so it needs plenty of personal space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe plate coral is a great addition to a mature reef with a deep enough sandbed.
