Their striking colours and relatively easy care make them a popular choice for many aquarists. This piece measures approximately 4cm. They are cherished for their vibrant patterns and the elegant, fleshy appearance of their polyps. This particular specimen displays a beautiful red hue.     These corals typically grow in a solitary, disc-shaped form, though they can sometimes be encrusting. Their single, large polyp has a fleshy mantle that extends over their calcareous skeleton, giving them a full, rounded appearance. This red coloration is a highlight, providing a strong focal point in any display.     Scolymia thrive under moderate lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR, and prefer moderate, indirect water flow to keep their tissue clean without causing irritation. They should be placed on the sand bed or securely in the lower to mid-rockwork. While they host zooxanthellae for most of their nutritional needs, occasional target feeding of meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods will encourage faster growth and better health. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. They are generally peaceful but should be given ample space as they can sting neighbouring corals with their sweeper tentacles, especially at night. When introducing a new Scolymia, a slow, gradual acclimation to tank lighting and water parameters is crucial.
