The T-shaped, hammer-like tips of its tentacles give the species its common name. Growth forms can be branching or wall-type, though branching is more common in aquaculture. It prefers moderate lighting levels, somewhere in the 75-150 PAR range, and should be placed in low to moderate indirect flow. Too much flow can prevent the polyps from fully extending. For water parameters, consistency is key: maintain calcium around 420-440 ppm, alkalinity between 8-9 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1400 ppm. While photosynthetic, it will accept target feeding of small meaty foods a couple of times a week.
