Individual polyps are connected by a fleshy tissue called coenenchyme that encrusts the rockwork. Depending on flow and lighting, their polyp skirts can be long and flowing or short and compact. They are generally peaceful but will encrust over anything in their path, so it's best to give them their own rock or an area where they have room to spread.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor best health, zoanthids require low to moderate lighting, somewhere in the 75-150 PAR range. They are not demanding when it comes to water flow, preferring gentle to moderate indirect currents rather than strong, direct streams. While they get most of their nutrition from photosynthesis, they will benefit from occasional target feeding with coral-specific foods, especially in lower nutrient systems. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium around 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1400.
