Description
The Red Sea REEFER DC 900 protein skimmer is the largest model in the REEFER DC skimmer range. It combines an adjustable Sicce DC pump with foam and collection-cup sensing for larger marine systems, with control through ReefBeat.
The ReefRun Dual DC Pump Controller is required and is sold separately. The skimmer is not a standalone controller-and-skimmer bundle.
Select by livestock load, not just litres
Red Sea rates the DC 900 for up to 900 L in an SPS reef, 1,800 L in a mixed reef or 2,700 L in a fish-only aquarium. These figures describe different operating scenarios. Heavy feeding and demanding coral goals should be considered when choosing a model.
What the sensors do
The self-levelling system reduces pump intensity when foam in the neck becomes too wet, then works back towards the chosen operating intensity. A collection-cup sensor provides additional overflow management. Keep the sensors clean and empty the cup regularly; automation does not replace routine inspection.

What is included?
The complete DC 900 skimmer, pump, collection cup and sensor system. This is not the DC pump upgrade kit for an existing REEFER skimmer.
Check the sump before ordering
Allow enough compartment space for the selected pump orientation and extra headroom above the 59 cm body to remove the collection cup. Use the manufacturer's dimension drawing rather than judging fit from nominal aquarium volume. The sump should maintain a stable water level within the specified 20–24 cm range.
Regular cleaning of the neck, air intake and sensors helps the skimmer operate consistently. Review the settings after significant feeding or water-treatment changes.
