Red Sea Reefer DC 300 Protein Skimmer

The Red Sea REEFER DC 300 protein skimmer is an in-sump skimmer with adjustable DC pump speed and sensor-assisted foam control. It suits reefkeepers who want to tune skimming through ReefBeat rather than rely on a fixed-speed pump.

A Red Sea ReefRun Dual DC Pump Controller is required and is sold separately. Include the controller in your equipment budget unless you already have a compatible unit with an available connection.

Choosing the right skimmer size

Red Sea rates the DC 300 for up to 300 L in an SPS reef, 600 L in a mixed reef or 900 L in a fish-only system. These are different stocking scenarios, not interchangeable capacity claims. Feeding, livestock load and the results you need should guide selection.

How the self-levelling function helps

A sensor monitors foam in the neck and allows the pump to reduce output when the foam becomes excessively wet, then work back towards the set intensity. A collection-cup sensor adds overflow management. These features help manage changing skimming conditions; they do not remove the need to clean the sensors, empty the cup or inspect the skimmer.

Included and installation requirements

This is the complete DC 300 skimmer with its pump, collection cup and sensor system, not the pump-only upgrade kit. The controller is not included. Check the skimmer's orientation drawing against your sump compartment and allow additional space above the 53 cm body to remove the collection cup.

Use a stable water level within the specified depth range. Clean the neck, air intake and sensors regularly, and reassess settings after major changes to feeding or water treatment.
