The Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is one of the most stunning ornamental anemones available for reef aquariums. When kept under high-intensity lighting, this species often forms distinctive bulb-like tips at the end of its tentacles. These tentacles will elongate when the anemone is hungry, reaching into the water column to capture food, then retract and return to their characteristic bulbous shape after feeding.
Also known as the Four-Colored Anemone, its coloration varies widely between individuals. Red varieties are often called Rose Bubble Tip Anemones, while those from regions like Fiji and Tonga typically display shades of brown, tan, or maroon, with occasional green specimens. In contrast, specimens from Sri Lanka often showcase vibrant green tentacles with a rich maroon base.
In the wild, Bubble Tip Anemones are found across tropical oceans worldwide, anchoring their pedal disc into crevices of dead coral, rubble, or live rock. In the home aquarium, they prefer similar environments—deep rock crevices or branching corals set in sandy substrate. These anemones often wander the tank until they find the ideal spot to settle.
To thrive, they require strong lighting and a tank of at least 30 gallons. Under optimal conditions, they can reach up to 30 cm (1 foot) in diameter, though they generally stay smaller under intense lighting. If lighting is too weak, they may stretch their bodies in an effort to absorb more light. Pairing them with a Clownfish provides a mutual benefit and enhances their overall care. If no Clownfish is present, they should be fed a varied diet including finely chopped fish, shrimp, or worms. Tentacles appearing thin or stringy may indicate a need for more food or better lighting.
As with all anemones, handle with care. Bubble Tip Anemones are capable of stinging nearby corals and other anemones that get too close.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
