Care for the Euphyllia ancora is relatively straightforward, making it a great choice for intermediate reef keepers, but also a rewarding challenge for beginners ready to learn. It thrives under moderate PAR lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR. Too much light can cause it to retract or bleach, while too little can lead to dull coloration and slow growth. Moderate, indirect water flow is preferred to allow its polyps to extend fully and gently undulate without being blasted. Avoid direct, strong flow as this can damage the delicate polyps.

Placement in the middle to lower regions of your tank is often ideal, ensuring it receives appropriate light and flow and has ample space to expand. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine-particulate foods like zooplankton or broadcast feeding can encourage faster growth and improved coloration. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature 74-78°F, salinity 1.025-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm.

The Purple Majesty Hammer Coral is considered semi-aggressive. Its sweeping tentacles can sting nearby corals, so ensure adequate spacing – at least 4-6 inches – from other inhabitants to prevent chemical warfare. Acclimation should be done slowly using the drip method over a period of 1-2 hours to minimize stress and allow it to adjust to your tank's specific conditions.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
