Description

Ignite your reef tank with this breathtaking Inferno Homophyllia australis, a truly spectacular Scolymia coral. This WYSIWYG specimen boasts an intense, fiery red-orange coloration that transitions to mesmerizing deep purples and blues around its undulating edges. The intricate patterns and folds of its fleshy polyps create a captivating display, making it a definite showstopper and focal point in any aquarium. Its vibrant hues will pop under proper reef lighting, offering dynamic visual interest to your underwater landscape.

Homophyllia australis, commonly known as Scolymia, is a relatively straightforward LPS coral to care for, making it suitable for both intermediate and experienced reef keepers. It thrives under moderate PAR levels, roughly 75-150 PAR. Excessive light can cause bleaching, while insufficient light may dull its vibrant colors. Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal; avoid direct, strong flow as this can irritate the coral and prevent proper feeding. For placement, a low to mid-level position on the sandbed or securely attached to live rock where it can expand without touching other corals is recommended. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature 75-79F, salinity 1.025-1.026, alkalinity 8-10 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Consistent water quality is key to its health and coloration.

This Scolymia is a carnivorous coral and benefits from regular spot feeding. Offer meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or chopped silversides a few times a week, preferably during the evening when its feeding tentacles are extended. Aggression-wise, Scolymia corals possess sweeper tentacles that can sting neighboring corals, so ensure adequate space (at least 4-6 inches) between them and other inhabitants. When introducing this coral to your tank, use a drip acclimation method over at least 30-60 minutes to minimize stress and help it adapt to your water parameters.

Adding an Inferno Homophyllia australis to your reef aquarium is an investment in unparalleled beauty and vibrant life. Its striking coloration and unique morphology will provide an instant focal point, drawing the eye of anyone admiring your tank. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it contributes to the biodiversity and delicate ecosystem of your captive reef. With proper care and attention, this stunning Scolymia will flourish, offering a continuous display of its magnificent colors and benefiting your overall tank health. Bring home this fiery jewel and watch your reef transform!

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
