Description
Description
Pineapple Torch Corals are a popular large polyp stony coral in the reef aquarium hobby. They are known for their striking appearance and active polyps, making them a captivating addition to a diverse reef tank. This piece measures approximately 1-3 Heads. They are generally considered a moderately easy coral to keep, suitable for aquarists with some experience. Some sources consider them a type of Euphyllia, while others classify them as Fimbriaphyllia. Regardless of classification, they are admired for their beauty and movement. Its golden or yellowish-brown polyps, often tipped with brighter hues, resemble the texture and colouration of a pineapple, hence its common name. The polyps extend significantly, swaying with water movement. At night, or when disturbed, the polyps will retract, revealing a skeletal structure. When healthy, they will have full, turgid polyps extending during the day. Pineapple Torch Corals thrive under moderate lighting, ideally 100-200 PAR, and moderate, indirect water flow to keep their polyps swaying gently without being blasted directly. Placement on the sand bed or lower to mid-rockwork is generally suitable. They primarily gain sustenance from their symbiotic zooxanthellae but will benefit from supplemental feeding of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods a few times a week. Maintain stable water parameters with calcium between 400-440 ppm, alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Like all Euphyllia-type corals, they possess potent sweeper tentacles that can extend several inches at night, so ensure adequate spacing from other corals to prevent chemical warfare or stinging. Acclimation should be gradual, especially regarding lighting and flow. This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
