Description

Australian Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens) is a premium showpiece LPS, known for long flowing tentacles and intense colour, but it rewards reefers who prioritise stability. Keep salinity steady (around 1.025), temperature in the mid-20s °C, and aim for consistent alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium—torch corals are particularly sensitive to rapid swings and can sulk quickly if parameters bounce. They also generally prefer a reef with “some” nutrients available rather than an ultra-low nutrient system.

Lighting should be moderate, leaning to moderate-high depending on the individual colony and your setup. Too much light too fast can cause retraction or paling, while too little can reduce extension and colour vibrancy. If you’re placing a torch into a brighter zone, acclimate gradually over 1–2 weeks (lower placement first or reduced intensity), and use healthy, consistent daytime extension as your guide.

Flow is one of the biggest keys to success: aim for moderate, indirect, random flow that keeps the tentacles moving freely without blasting them in a straight line. A torch should “dance” smoothly—if the tentacles are being pinned hard in one direction or the tissue looks irritated at the base, the flow is too strong or too direct. Gentle, variable flow helps keep detritus off the skeleton and supports better overall health.

Give Australian torches plenty of space. They can extend long sweeper tentacles and pack a strong sting, especially at night, so keep a generous buffer from other corals (including other Euphyllia if you’re mixing types). Torch corals can benefit from occasional feeding of small meaty foods when tentacles are extended, but don’t overdo it—consistent water quality and stable parameters matter more than heavy feeding. With the right placement, flow, and stability, an Australian Torch becomes one of the most eye-catching corals in any reef.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
