Description

The Torch Coral, Euphyllia glabrescens, is one of the most iconic large-polyp stony corals in the reef aquarium hobby. Valued for its long, flowing tentacles and dynamic presence, it has been a centrepiece species for decades. This particular gold colour morph brings a warm, metallic hue to the aquarium, standing out under a range of lighting conditions.

In a home reef, a healthy Gold Torch extends its polyps from a branching calcified base. Its long, graceful tentacles are the main feature, each tipped with a small, contrasting orb. They sway and drift with the water movement, creating a mesmerising, fluid display. The colouration of this variety is a consistent deep gold, from the base of the tentacle to the tip.

For care, Gold Torch Corals prefer moderate, indirect water flow—enough to create a gentle swaying motion in the tentacles without causing them to retract. They do best under moderate lighting, with a PAR range of 100-200 being a good target. Placement is typically in the middle to upper regions of the tank, secured to the rockwork. While photosynthetic, they benefit from weekly target feedings of small meaty foods. Maintain stable water parameters with calcium at 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300-1400 ppm. Be sure to give them space; their sweeper tentacles can extend over 15cm and will sting any neighbouring corals within reach.

Due to their active nature, Gold Torch corals add a unique sense of movement and life to a reef tank. They are a good indicator of water flow and overall tank stability. Provided they have enough personal space to avoid conflict with other corals, they integrate well into mixed reef environments that house non-aggressive fish and invertebrates.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
