Acan Lord

Acan Lord, or Micromussa lordhowensis, is a highly sought-after LPS coral within the reef-keeping hobby, known for its striking colours and unique growth patterns. These corals are often a focal point in many aquariums due to their vibrant appearance and relatively straightforward care requirements, making them a popular choice for both new and experienced aquarists. This piece measures approximately 10cm. This species originates from the Indo-Pacific. A healthy Acan Lord brings a pop of colour to any reef.

Typically, Acan Lords grow in encrusting or hemispherical colonies, featuring large, fleshy polyps that can expand significantly when happy. Their skeletal structure consists of corallites, each housing a single polyp, which collectively form the colony. The colouration of Acan Lords is incredibly diverse, often displaying a rich palette of colours that can include reds, greens, blues, purples, and oranges, sometimes in intricate patterns or streaks across the polyps, creating a jewel-like effect. Their fleshy polyps provide a soft, textured look in the aquarium.

Acan Lords prefer moderate to low lighting, typically around 50-150 PAR, and moderate, indirect water flow. High flow can cause the polyps to retract or become damaged. Placement on the sandbed or lower to mid-level rockwork is generally ideal, ensuring they are not directly blasted by strong light or flow. While photosynthetic, they benefit significantly from target feeding meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or coral pellets a few times a week, especially at night when their feeding tentacles are extended. Maintain stable water parameters: calcium at 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1400 ppm. Acan Lords can be aggressive, extending sweeper tentacles at night, so adequate spacing from other corals is necessary. Acclimation should be slow, allowing the coral to adjust gradually to new lighting and water conditions.

Their robust nature and stunning appearance make them an excellent addition for creating a vibrant, dynamic display in a mixed reef or dedicated LPS tank. They grow at a moderate pace, slowly filling out their designated space with their colourful polyps.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
