Description
Description
Alveopora, often referred to as "Flowerpot Coral," is a beloved large polyp stony (LPS) coral in the reef aquarium hobby, prized for its delicate, flowing polyps. This genus offers a captivating display of movement and soft texture, making it a focal point in many aquariums. This particular fragment presents a lovely pink hue, promising to add a touch of gentle colour to your reef. Alveopora are known for their extended polyps that sway gracefully in the current, creating a tranquil aquatic scene.
This coral exhibits a beautiful baby pink colouration, with individual polyps extending significantly from its skeleton. The polyps feature twelve tentacles each, which are typically uniform in length and give the coral its characteristic "flower-like" appearance. They are constantly in motion, responding to water flow and environmental cues, which makes them a dynamic addition to the tank.
Alveopora thrive under moderate lighting conditions, ideally around 100-200 PAR, and prefer moderate, indirect water flow to prevent polyp damage while ensuring detritus removal. Placement on the sand bed or lower to mid-level rockwork is generally suitable. While they primarily rely on zooxanthellae for nutrition, target feeding with fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or zooplankton can encourage robust growth and polyp extension. Maintaining stable water parameters is crucial: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Alveopora are generally peaceful but should be given adequate space to prevent their sweeping polyps from irritating neighbouring corals. Acclimation should be slow and gradual to allow the coral to adapt to its new environment.
This is not a WYSIWYG listing; you'll receive a specimen of the same species with similar size and colouration to the one pictured, hand-picked for health and colour.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
