Description
Description
The Bleeding Apple Morph Scolymia, often classified as Homophyllia australis, is one of the most sought-after solitary large polyp stony corals in the marine aquarium hobby. Renowned for its distinctive pattern, the bleeding apple colouration features bold contrasting splashes that make it a standout centerpiece on any sandbed.
This solitary polyp forms a circular, fleshy disc that expands significantly during the day to take in light. This piece measures approximately 5cm across and displays the classic radial patterns and saturated tissue characteristic of this morph. At night, it extends a ring of translucent feeding tentacles around the central oral disc, actively searching the water column for suspended food particles.
Caring for this coral requires stable reef parameters and thoughtful placement. It does best on the sandbed or nestled securely in the lower rockwork under low to moderate lighting, ideally between 50 and 100 PAR. Flow should be low and indirect to prevent the fleshy mantle from folding or tearing against its internal skeleton. Maintain standard LPS water chemistry with calcium at 400 to 440 ppm, alkalinity at 8 to 9 dKH, and magnesium between 1300 and 1350 ppm. Weekly target feedings of finely chopped meaty marine foods or coral pellets will keep it robust, though it should be placed well away from other corals to avoid sweeper tentacles. Acclimate slowly to both your water chemistry and lighting.

Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
