Blue Cyphastrea

Cyphastrea corals are relatively hardy SPS corals, making them suitable for both experienced hobbyists and those new to SPS keeping. They thrive under moderate PAR levels, ideally between 150-250. Excessive lighting can cause bleaching, so start with lower light and gradually increase if needed. Moderate water flow is preferred, ensuring detritus is kept from settling on the coral while not being so strong as to cause tissue recession. Avoid direct, laminar flow and aim for turbulent, indirect flow.

Placement in the aquarium should be on stable rockwork, typically in the middle to upper regions of the tank where light and flow conditions are met. Ensure it has enough space to encrust without overshadowing other corals. While primarily photosynthetic, Cyphastrea can benefit from supplemental feeding of fine particulate foods like zooplankton or broadcast feeding with coral-specific foods. Aim for stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78F, Salinity 1.024-1.026, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm, and Nitrates below 10 ppm.

Cyphastrea corals are generally peaceful and do not exhibit strong aggression towards other corals. However, like all corals, ensure there is adequate space to prevent physical contact with more aggressive species as it grows. When introducing this coral to your aquarium, a standard drip acclimation process over 30-60 minutes is recommended to allow it to gradually adjust to your tank's water parameters. Ensure proper lighting and flow are established before placement.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
