Description

The Torch Coral, Euphyllia glabrescens, is one of the most popular and iconic Large Polyp Stony (LPS) corals in the reef aquarium hobby. Known for its long, graceful tentacles that sway in the current, it brings a unique sense of movement and life to any reef tank. The Cotton Candy color variation is particularly sought after for its distinct and appealing coloration, making it a beautiful centerpiece.

The Cotton Candy Torch typically displays tentacles with pink to purplish tips that transition to a blue or green base, reminiscent of the classic confection. These polyps extend from a calcified branching base, and over time, a single head will develop into a larger colony with multiple heads. The tentacles are in constant, gentle motion, creating a mesmerizing display that is a favorite among aquarists.

For proper care, Euphyllia glabrescens requires moderate lighting, with a PAR range of approximately 75-150. Water flow should be moderate and indirect; too much direct flow can prevent the polyps from fully extending and may cause tissue damage. It is best placed in the lower to middle sections of the tank on a stable rock. While this coral is photosynthetic, it will benefit from target feeding once or twice a week with meaty foods like mysis shrimp or specialized LPS pellets. Maintain stable water parameters with calcium between 400-450 ppm, alkalinity at 8-12 dKH, and magnesium at 1250-1350 ppm. Torch corals a very aggressive and known for their long sweeper tentacles, which can sting and damage neighboring corals, so be sure to provide at least 6-8 inches of space around it. Acclimate all new corals slowly to your tank's lighting and water conditions.

The consistent movement and vibrant colors of the Torch Coral make it a dynamic focal point. Its presence adds a touch of elegance and motion that few other corals can match, making it a rewarding species for keepers who can provide the appropriate environment.

Please note: This is not a WYSIWYG item. You will receive a coral frag of the same species and similar coloration/quality to what is photographed, but the exact specimen may vary. Each piece is unique and hand-selected for health and color.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
