Description
Favia corals are a familiar sight in reef aquariums, appreciated for their hardiness and diverse colour patterns. These large polyp stony corals grow in a classic mounding or encrusting form. The Dragon Soul is a particularly well-known variant, distinguished by its deep, dark base colour contrasted with intensely bright polyp centres, or "eyes".
As an encrusting species, a Favia colony will slowly grow over the rockwork it's placed on. The individual polyps are set within the stony skeleton, giving the coral a textured, brain-like surface. While the polyps are mostly retracted during the day, Favia are active nighttime feeders and will extend surprisingly long feeder tentacles into the water column after the lights go out.
For best results, provide low to moderate lighting, in the range of 75-150 PAR. A Favia will appreciate a spot on the lower to mid-level rockwork, or even on the sandbed. Water flow should be moderate and indirect, enough to keep the surface clear of detritus without blasting the polyps directly. While photosynthetic, they respond well to weekly target feeding with mysis shrimp or other small meaty foods. Be sure to give them space, as Favia can produce long sweeper tentacles at night that will sting neighbouring corals. Standard reef parameters with a calcium level of 420-440, alkalinity of 8-9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300-1400 will support its health and growth.
In a home reef, the Dragon Soul Favia adds a rich patch of colour and texture. Its steady, encrusting growth is satisfying to watch over time as it colonises a section of the rockwork. Just be mindful of its aggressive nature and plan its placement accordingly to avoid any territorial disputes with other corals.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
