Description
Description
Flowerpot corals, belonging to the genus Goniopora or Alveopora, are iconic large polyp stony corals celebrated for their dynamic movement and lush floral appearance. They have become staple additions for reef keepers seeking continuous motion and rich texture across the aquascape. This specimen is mounted as a frag and ready to settle into an established marine aquarium.
When fully expanded, the coral extends long, delicate stalks crowned with individual multi-tentacled polyps that resemble a blooming bouquet. The polyps sway with the water movement and will retract tightly against the stony skeleton when disturbed or during the dark cycle. Its colouration presents a classic, healthy appearance typical of the species, displaying clean tones that brighten under blue-spectrum lighting.
For general care, this species prospers best under moderate lighting with a PAR range between 75 and 150, paired with gentle to moderate indirect flow that keeps the polyps undulating without folding them over. Position it on the sandbed or along the lower rockwork to prevent tissue damage from excessive current. Target feeding with fine microplankton, liquid coral diets, or powdered foods once or twice a week significantly supports vitality. Maintain stable water chemistry with alkalinity at 8 to 9 dKH, calcium between 420 and 440 ppm, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Provide adequate clearance from aggressive stinging corals, and acclimate gradually to your lighting and water parameters.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
