Description
Description
The Elegance Coral, Catalaphyllia jardinei, is a classic large polyp stony coral that has long been a centerpiece in home aquariums. This "Ghost" variety is a specific morph noted for its subtle and ethereal appearance, featuring tentacles that are almost clear rather than the more common vibrant green. Its unique look sets it apart from other members of its species.
In a home reef, the Elegance Coral exhibits a fleshy body with long, flowing tentacles that extend from a conical, calcified base. The tentacles on this Ghost morph are translucent, giving them a glassy quality. The tips are typically a bright, contrasting white. The coral will expand and retract based on lighting and water conditions, and its gentle movement provides a dynamic focal point.
Successful long-term care relies on stable conditions. An Elegance Coral should be placed on the sandbed, away from any rockwork that could chafe its sensitive tissue. It requires low to moderate indirect water flow, just enough to cause the tentacles to sway gently. Moderate lighting in the 100-200 PAR range is ideal. While it gains energy from its zooxanthellae, it benefits from weekly feedings of meaty foods. Keep water parameters stable with calcium at 400-450 ppm, alkalinity at 8-12 dKH, and magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. It is an aggressive coral with a powerful sting, so leave a generous six-inch buffer between it and its neighbours.
This coral adds a unique type of movement and texture to a well-maintained system. This specimen is WYSIWYG. You will receive the exact coral shown in the accompanying photograph.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
