Description
Description
The Gold Dragon Soul Favia is a classic, hardy large polyp stony coral that has earned a solid place in the reef keeping hobby. Known for its distinct brain-like ridges and contrasting oral discs, it provides a striking focal point on the lower rockwork. This particular piece measures approximately 7cm across, showing healthy tissue coverage over a well-formed skeletal base.
Its growth form is encrusting to massive, gradually coating adjacent rock as it lays down a sturdy calcium carbonate skeleton. The corallites display rich gold coloration across the outer tissue and walls, set off by darker contrasting centres. During daylight hours, the coral maintains a smooth, fleshy appearance, while after lights out it extends short feeding tentacles from each mouth to capture suspended food particles.
For optimal health, position this coral in the lower to middle zones of the tank under moderate lighting of around 80 to 150 PAR. Provide moderate, indirect water flow to keep the tissue free of settling detritus without blasting the polyps. Like most stony corals, it relies on stable water parameters with calcium maintained between 420 and 440 ppm, alkalinity at 8 to 9 dKH, and magnesium around 1300 to 1350 ppm. Weekly target feeding of fine meaty items such as mysis or enriched LPS pellets will encourage steady growth. Favia can extend sweeper tentacles at night, so give it roughly 5cm of clearance from neighboring species, and acclimate it carefully to your system lighting over a week or two.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
