Description

The Gold Rush Montipora is a small-polyp stony coral that brings a unique combination of colour and texture to a reef aquarium. As a member of the diverse Montipora genus, it shares the same general care requirements as other common species like the anacropora or digitata, but with its own distinct appearance. This particular morph is known for its deep golden base colour.

encrusting coral, meaning it will grow outwards from its base, covering the rockwork. Its surface has a characteristically bumpy texture, with a rich gold-to-yellow tissue that is accented by small, contrasting polyps. With the right flow and lighting, the colony will develop into a thick plate that follows the contours of the underlying rock.

Success with this Montipora requires the stable water chemistry typical for SPS corals. We recommend high lighting, in the 250-450 PAR range, along with strong, indirect water flow. Place it on rockwork in the middle to upper third of the tank. While it gets most of its energy from photosynthesis, it may benefit from occasional broadcast feeding of SPS coral food. Keep calcium between 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. not an aggressive coral, but it will be damaged by more powerful neighbours, so give it space.

Its encrusting growth habit is useful for adding a splash of solid colour to your aquascape, creating a living skin over the rock. It serves as a great foundation for building up an SPS-dominant reef, contrasting nicely with branching or plating coral forms.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
