Gold Rush Montipora

This coral thrives under moderate to high PAR levels, roughly 150-300 PAR. Place it in an area with moderate to high flow to ensure proper nutrient exchange and to prevent detritus from settling on its surface. Optimal placement is usually in the mid to upper levels of the aquarium, on stable rockwork where it can encrust unimpeded. Ensure proper acclimation to your tank's lighting and water chemistry to avoid shocking the coral.

While primarily photosynthetic, the Gold Rush Montipora will benefit from supplemental feeding with fine particulate foods such as phytoplankton or zooplankton, especially when establishing itself or during periods of rapid growth. Maintain stable water parameters including a temperature of 72-78°F, salinity of 1.024-1.026, alkalinity of 8-12 dKH, calcium of 400-450 ppm, and magnesium of 1300-1450 ppm. Consistent water quality is key to its health and coloration.

Montipora corals are generally peaceful but can be aggressive towards other corals if they grow too close. Provide adequate spacing between the Gold Rush Montipora and its neighbors to prevent chemical warfare or shading. Its encrusting growth habit can quickly cover adjacent rockwork, so consider its long-term growth potential when selecting its placement in your reef aquascape. Careful observation of its growth is recommended, and fragging may be necessary to maintain space.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
