Description
Description
Montipora species are a cornerstone of the SPS-dominated reef aquarium. This encrusting coral, often referred to as a "Monti," is known for its distinctive texture and growth patterns. The gold-coloured base provides a solid canvas, setting it apart from more common green or brown varieties.
In a home reef, this Montipora will grow outwards, covering the rockwork in a thick, textured plate. Its surface has a slightly bumpy texture from which small, individual polyps emerge. Under good lighting, the base colour is a rich yellow-gold, often complemented by small polyps of a contrasting colour, adding to its visual appeal as it matures.
Successful care hinges on stability, as with all SPS corals. It requires high light, in the 250-450 PAR range, so placement in the middle to upper regions of the tank is best. Provide strong, indirect water flow to keep its surface clean and deliver nutrients. While it gets most of its energy from photosynthesis, the coral will benefit from occasional broadcast feeding with fine particulate foods. Maintain stable alkalinity between 8-9 dKH, calcium around 420-440 ppm, and magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. It's not aggressive, but be sure to give it ample room to encrust without encroaching on other corals. Acclimate slowly and introduce it to high light gradually to avoid shock.
satisfying coral for hobbyists who have their water parameters dialed in. Its steady, encrusting growth is rewarding to watch as it paints the rockwork over time. Since it's a peaceful species, it can be placed near other corals without much worry, as long as you account for its future growth path. It's an excellent choice for adding a large patch of solid colour to an established SPS system.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
