Green Acropora sp.

Acropora are perhaps the quintessential SPS coral, synonymous with advanced reef keeping and forming the backbone of many mature reef aquariums. Their diverse growth forms and vibrant colours make them highly sought after. This particular specimen is a vibrant green Acropora sp., ready to add a splash of colour and structure to your reef. This piece measures approximately 7cm.

Green Acropora typically exhibit a branching or tabling growth habit, though some can be encrusting or even arborescent. The polyps are small and often extend during the day, creating a fuzzy appearance that adds to their aesthetic appeal. Under appropriate lighting, the green coloration of this species will be strong and consistent, providing excellent contrast against other corals.

Acropora require high lighting, typically in the 300-500 PAR range, and strong, turbulent flow to thrive. Placement in the upper to mid sections of the aquarium, where both light and flow are robust, is ideal. They are primarily photosynthetic but will benefit from broadcast feeding of fine particulate foods. Maintaining stable water parameters is crucial: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Acropora are generally peaceful but need adequate spacing from other corals to prevent stinging. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, especially for light.

With proper care, a Green Acropora sp. can grow into a magnificent colony, providing intricate structure and a vibrant green focal point in a well-established reef system. Their presence often signifies a mature and well-balanced environment.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
