Description
Acropora corals are one of the most well-known groups of small-polyp stony corals, sought after by dedicated reef hobbyists for their diverse growth forms and vibrant colors. As a cornerstone species of natural reefs, bringing an Acropora into an aquarium is a rewarding experience that offers a classic reef-building look and a satisfying challenge for the experienced keeper.
This species of Acropora typically displays a branching or staghorn growth pattern. The main branches express a green coloration, while the tips and axial corallites can develop a contrasting blue or purple hue, particularly under lighting with a higher blue spectrum. Its polyps are small and will extend from the corallites when the coral is feeding or comfortable in its environment. Over time, it will grow into a dense, branching colony that adds significant structural complexity to the reef aquascape.
Caring for Acropora requires attention to detail and stable water parameters. For lighting, a PAR value between 250-450 is recommended, so placement should be in the middle to upper third of the tank. Strong, chaotic water flow is essential to keep the polyps clean and deliver nutrients. While largely photosynthetic, this coral benefits from broadcast feeding with specialized SPS foods or amino acids a few times a week. Maintain calcium between 400-450 ppm, alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and magnesium between 1300-1450 ppm. Acropora is not aggressive, but it should be given plenty of space to grow without being shaded or stung by neighboring corals. Acclimation should be done slowly to avoid shock.
For the hobbyist with an established reef system looking to keep classic SPS corals, a Green Acropora is a worthwhile addition. Its relatively fast growth and iconic appearance make it a fulfilling coral to cultivate, serving as a good measure of a reef tank's stability and maturity.
Please note: This is not a WYSIWYG item. You will receive a coral frag of the same species and similar coloration/quality to what is photographed, but the exact specimen may vary. Each piece is unique and hand-selected for health and color.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
