Description
Description
Favia corals are a popular choice for reef hobbyists looking to add texture and color to their aquarium. Belonging to the Large Polyp Stony (LPS) category, these corals are known for their general hardiness and interesting colony structures, making them accessible to a wide range of reef keepers. Their active feeding response at night adds another level of observation and interaction for the aquarist.
This species typically forms an encrusting or massive boulder-like colony over time. The surface is composed of distinct, individual corallites that give it a bumpy or brain-like texture. As the name suggests, this variety exhibits a rich green coloration across the tissue, often with the central oral discs, or "eyes," displaying a contrasting or deeper shade. The polyps remain fleshy and visible during the day.
For best care, place the Green Favia Coral in the lower to middle third of the tank on the rockwork. It prefers moderate, indirect water flow, which helps keep its surface clean without stressing the polyps. Lighting should be in the low to moderate range, approximately 75-150 PAR. Favia corals are photosynthetic but benefit significantly from regular feeding. They will extend sweeper tentacles at night and readily accept target feeding with meaty foods like mysis shrimp and specialized LPS pellets once or twice a week. Maintain stable water parameters with calcium between 400-450 ppm, alkalinity at 8-12 dKH, and magnesium from 1250-1350 ppm. Be aware that Favia can be aggressive, so provide at least 3-4 inches of space from neighboring corals to avoid damage from its sweeper tentacles. A slow drip acclimation is recommended for a smooth transition.
The Green Favia Coral is a rewarding species that brings a classic texture and deep color to a mixed reef. Its durability and observable feeding behaviors make it a worthwhile and engaging addition for aquarists who can provide for its spacing requirements.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
