Green & Purple Acropora sp.

Acropora are perhaps the most iconic of the small polyp stony (SPS) corals, forming the backbone of many natural reef structures and thriving in well-maintained home aquariums. Their diverse growth forms and vibrant colours make them highly sought-after additions for experienced reef keepers looking to create a dynamic display.

This Green & Purple Acropora sp. showcases an attractive combination of a bright green body with contrasting purple polyps, creating a striking visual. The branches will extend outwards and upwards, providing architectural interest. This piece measures approximately 12cm, offering a good start to a growing colony.

Acropora thrive under high lighting conditions, requiring PAR levels between 300-500. Strong, turbulent water flow is essential to keep their colonies clean and prevent dead spots. Ideal placement is in the upper third of the aquarium. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine particulate foods can encourage faster growth. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 420-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Acropora are not generally aggressive but require adequate spacing from other corals as they grow to prevent shading or physical contact. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, especially to new lighting, allowing the coral to adjust to its new environment.

Adding an Acropora specimen like this green and purple variety can be the centrepiece of an SPS-dominated reef, providing both structure and brilliant colour.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
