Green Rhodactis Mushroom Garden

The Green Rhodactis Mushroom is a wonderfully vibrant and easy-to-care-for soft coral, making it a fantastic addition for both beginner and experienced reef aquarists. This particular specimen displays a captivating emerald green coloration with a textured, bubbly surface that adds exceptional visual interest to any reef tank. Caring for your Green Rhodactis Mushroom is relatively straightforward. They thrive in low to moderate PAR (50-100 PAR is ideal), making them suitable for placement in shaded areas or lower in the tank. Direct, intense lighting can cause them to recede or lose some coloration. They prefer low to moderate water flow, enough to keep detritus from settling on their surface but not so strong that they are constantly buffeted. Place them on the sandbed or securely on live rock where they can attach and spread, ensuring they do not sting other corals.

While largely photosynthetic, Green Rhodactis Mushrooms will readily accept small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral foods, which can promote faster growth and richer coloration. Broadcast feeding during times of low flow is recommended. Maintain stable water parameters: salinity at 1.024-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Keep nitrates and phosphates low but detectable to support their health.

These mushrooms are generally peaceful and do not possess strong stinging capabilities, but it is always wise to give them some space from other coral types to prevent any potential irritation. Acclimation should be done gradually using a drip acclimation method over at least 30-60 minutes to allow the coral to adjust to your tank's water parameters. Once settled, they are quite hardy and resilient.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
