Green Torch Coral

Torch corals are a cornerstone in many LPS dominant reef aquariums, cherished for their flowing elegance and ease of care. This particular Green Torch Coral brings a vibrant, emerald hue to the aquascape, offering dynamic movement and striking colouration. This piece measures approximately 3+ Heads. Green Torch Corals are named for their long, flowing tentacles, which typically extend several inches from their skeletal base. These tentacles feature distinct, rounded tips that often appear slightly brighter or more intense in their green colour. The movement of these tentacles in the current creates a mesmerizing display, resembling a field of swaying torches under the sea. At night, the tentacles retract, revealing the hard, branching skeleton.

For optimal health, Green Torch Corals thrive under moderate to high PAR lighting, typically between 150-250 PAR. They prefer moderate, indirect flow to keep their tentacles gently swaying without causing them to retract forcefully. Placement on the mid to upper levels of the rockwork or substrate is generally ideal. While they possess photosynthetic zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding of small meaty foods like mysis shrimp or copepods a few times a week will promote faster growth and better health. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Ensure adequate spacing from other corals, as their sweepers can extend several inches and are capable of stinging neighbours. Acclimation should be gradual, especially to new lighting conditions.

Their striking green colour and elegant movement make them an excellent focal point, adding both visual interest and a sense of vitality to the reef environment.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
