Description
Description
Hammer corals, belonging to the genus Fimbriaphyllia, are among the most recognisable and celebrated large polyp stony corals in the marine hobby. Valued for their distinctive tentacle shape and steady growth habit, they offer classical movement and form that works well in both mixed reefs and dedicated LPS displays.
This piece measures approximately 7cm across and forms a solid skeleton topped with fleshy, active polyps. The tentacles feature the signature hammer or anchor-shaped tips, extending broadly throughout the day to capture light and retracting slightly at night. In typical fashion for the species, it maintains a full, rounded canopy under appropriate reef conditions.
To keep this coral thriving, provide moderate, indirect water flow that gently sways the tentacles without battering them or folding them over the hard skeleton. Position it in the lower to middle zones of the tank under moderate lighting, ideally around 75 to 150 PAR. Maintain stable reef parameters with calcium at 400 to 450 ppm, alkalinity between 8 and 10 dKH, and magnesium around 1250 to 1350 ppm. Hammer corals possess sweeper tentacles that can sting nearby corals, so allow several inches of clearance between this specimen and any non-Euphylliid neighbours. Occasional targeted offerings of mysis or micro-pellets will support health, and slow drip acclimation is recommended prior to introducing it to your system.
This is a WYSIWYG item, so you'll receive the exact specimen pictured.
Please note that colours can look slightly different in person than in photos, depending on your lighting and screen, and the size given is an approximate guide measured at the time of listing.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
