Description
The Torch Coral, Euphyllia glabrescens, is a long-time favorite in the reef aquarium hobby, prized for the graceful, flowing motion of its tentacles. The Holy Grail is a highly desirable color morph that provides an outstanding level of contrast and visual appeal, making it a true centerpiece coral.
This variety of Torch Coral develops a branching stony skeleton that gives rise to individual large polyps. Each polyp displays long, swaying tentacles that move with the water’s current. The Holy Grail morph is distinguished by its classic coloration of brilliant gold or yellow tips on tentacles with a much darker base, which can range from a deep green to a rich purple or blue. This color combination creates a striking visual separation that draws the eye.
For best care, a Holy Grail Torch Coral should be placed in moderate lighting, with a PAR range between 100-150. It thrives in moderate, indirect water flow that is strong enough to promote gentle swaying but not so powerful that it prevents full polyp extension or damages the coral's soft tissue. Ideal placement is on stable rockwork in the middle to upper part of the tank. While these corals are photosynthetic, they show improved health and growth with supplemental feeding. Target feeding a meaty food source like mysis, brine shrimp, or specialized LPS foods once or twice a week is recommended. This is an aggressive coral with potent sweeper tentacles that can extend several inches and sting its neighbors; allow at least 6 to 8 inches of space between it and other corals. For water parameters, maintain calcium at 400-450 ppm, alkalinity at 8-12 dKH, and magnesium at 1250-1350 ppm. A slow drip acclimation is the best practice for introduction.
The constant, gentle movement of a Torch Coral adds a unique sense of energy and life to a reef tank. The vivid, contrasting coloration of the Holy Grail variant makes it an especially rewarding species for hobbyists looking to create a dynamic and visually impressive display.
Please note: This is not a WYSIWYG item. You will receive a coral frag of the same species and similar coloration/quality to what is photographed, but the exact specimen may vary. Each piece is unique and hand-selected for health and color.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
