Description
Description
The Torch Coral, Euphyllia glabrescens, is a long-standing favourite in the reef aquarium hobby, and for good reason. The Miami Hurricane is a particularly well-known variety, distinguished by its unique and vibrant colour combination that makes it a standout piece in any LPS-focused or mixed reef system.
This coral presents a classic branching Euphyllia skeleton from which long, flowing tentacles extend. These polyps are in near-constant motion, creating a dynamic display that few other corals can match. The Miami Hurricane morph is defined by its deep green tentacles that transition to bright pink or purple tips, a striking contrast that holds up well under a range of appropriate reef lighting.
For best health, a Torch Coral requires stable water parameters and moderate care. It thrives in moderate lighting, typically in the 100-200 PAR range, and prefers moderate, indirect water flow that allows its polyps to sway gently without being damaged. Placement in the middle section of the aquarium is often a good starting point. While primarily photosynthetic, it will benefit from occasional feedings of small meaty foods like mysis or enriched brine shrimp. Like other Euphyllia, it possesses powerful sweeper tentacles, so it's critical to provide several inches of space between it and any neighbouring corals to prevent stinging.
The fluid, rhythmic movement of a Torch Coral adds a captivating sense of life to the reefscape. Its presence can soften the hard lines of the rockwork and provides a beautiful contrast to more static corals, drawing the eye and serving as a natural centrepiece.
This is not a WYSIWYG listing; you'll receive a specimen of the same species with similar size and colouration to the one pictured, hand-picked for health and colour.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
