Description
Hammer corals are a cornerstone of the LPS world, and for good reason. As a member of the Fimbriaphyllia genus, formerly known as Euphyllia, this coral brings a unique combination of colour, structure, and movement to a reef aquarium. This particular specimen displays the classic mint green colouration that is characteristic of many popular varieties.
The coral grows a branching calcified skeleton, from which its fleshy polyps extend during the day. Each polyp is tipped with a distinctive T-shaped, hammer-like vesicle. In the water, these polyps sway gently, creating a soft, hypnotic motion. The mint green colour is consistent across the polyps, providing a solid block of colour for your aquascape.
For care, provide moderate lighting, in the 100 to 150 PAR range, along with low to moderate indirect water flow. Too much flow will cause the polyps to stay retracted. Placement in the middle region of the tank is generally a safe bet. While photosynthetic, it will accept spot feeding with meaty foods like mysis or dedicated LPS pellets once a week. Hammer corals are aggressive towards their neighbours, deploying long sweeper tentacles at night that can sting other corals. Be sure to provide at least 15cm of space between it and any other corals in your reef. Standard water parameters with calcium around 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1400 will keep it happy.
A healthy Hammer Coral is a great addition to a stable mixed reef. Its gentle movement offers a nice contrast to the static nature of SPS corals or the faster polyp rhythms of some soft corals. They are generally peaceful with fish and invertebrates, with the main consideration being their sweeper tentacles in relation to other corals.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
