Nuclear Green Acropora sp.

Acropora corals are a cornerstone of many reef aquariums, often admired for their intricate structures and vibrant colours. This particular specimen, a Nuclear Green Acropora sp., offers a striking green hue that can become a focal point in a well-maintained SPS display.

This colony features a branching growth form, typical of many Acropora species. Its polyps are usually small and extend from the corallites, adding a fine texture to its overall appearance. The entire piece is a consistent, intense green, and it measures approximately 12cm across. Healthy Acropora often show excellent polyp extension, indicating good water quality and suitable conditions.

For optimal health, Nuclear Green Acropora sp. requires high lighting, ideally around 300-450 PAR. Strong, turbulent flow is crucial to prevent detritus accumulation and provide nutrients to the coral tissue. Placement in the upper to mid sections of the aquarium is generally recommended, depending on the light intensity. While primarily photosynthetic, occasional feeding with fine particulate foods can be beneficial. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium at 400-450 ppm, Alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium at 1250-1350 ppm. Acropora can be aggressive towards other corals if they touch, so ensure adequate spacing. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, especially regarding lighting and flow.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
