Organ Pipe Coral

Organ Pipe Coral, Tubipora musica, is a distinctive and popular soft coral in the reefkeeping hobby. Its unique skeletal structure gives it a robust presence, making it a great addition for those looking for something a bit different than typical soft corals, yet still appreciating their ease of care. It forms a sturdy base with numerous individual polyps emerging from it. This piece measures approximately 9cm. Its polyps extend, giving a feathery appearance that can sway gently in the current, often displaying colours that complement its more rigid, pipe-like structure. Care for Organ Pipe Coral is straightforward, making it suitable for a wide range of reef tanks. It prefers moderate lighting, roughly 50-150 PAR, and benefits from moderate, indirect water flow to keep detritus from settling and to ensure polyps can extend freely. Placement can be anywhere from the lower to mid-level of the aquascape, ensuring it has stable footing. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding of phytoplankton or fine zooplankton can encourage more robust growth and polyp extension. Maintaining stable water parameters with calcium around 400-450 ppm, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm is beneficial. Organ Pipe Coral is generally peaceful, but like all corals, ensure it has enough space to grow without encroaching on neighbours. Acclimation should be slow and steady, allowing it to gradually adjust to your tank's conditions. This coral offers a unique textural element in the reef, with its contrasting hard-looking structure and soft, flowing polyps. It can be a focal point or a complementary piece, fitting well into mixed reef setups.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
