Pink Acropora sp.

Acropora are one of the defining corals of a mature reef system. With their rapid growth and delicate branching structures, they are often a highlight in SPS-dominant aquariums. This beautiful Pink Acropora sp. measures approximately 6cm and will make a lovely addition. Some experience with SPS coral husbandry is beneficial for success with this species.

This specimen presents a lovely pink hue across its branches, which can intensify under optimal lighting conditions. The polyps are small and provide a fuzzy appearance to the branches when extended, constantly feeding and cleaning the coral's surface. Acropora grow by extending their tips and branching out, forming intricate colonies over time.

For a Pink Acropora sp., strong, stable lighting is crucial, typically requiring PAR levels between 250-450. High, turbulent flow is essential to keep the coral clean and deliver nutrients, ensuring proper gas exchange. Placement in the upper third of the aquarium is usually ideal to meet its light and flow demands. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine particulate foods or amino acids can boost growth and colouration. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Ensure ample space around the colony to prevent aggression from neighbouring corals as it grows. Acclimation should be slow and gradual, especially regarding light, to avoid shocking the specimen.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
