Pink & Teal Alveopora Coral

Alveopora, often called a daisy coral, is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its long, flowing polyps. This genus adds a dynamic and delicate texture to a reef aquarium, swaying gently with water movement and offering a distinctly floral appearance that stands out in a mixed reef. This particular specimen presents a beautiful pink colouration, making it a vibrant addition. This piece measures approximately 8cm.

Alveopora polyps extend considerably from their skeletal base, resembling a cluster of flowers. Each polyp has 12 tentacles, a key distinguishing feature from its close relative, Goniopora, which has 24. This specific coral displays striking pink polyps with subtle teal highlights in the oral disc, creating a captivating contrast. The polyps are often fully extended during the day, creating a soft, ethereal mound.

Alveopora corals thrive under moderate lighting, ideally between 75-150 PAR. They appreciate moderate, indirect water flow that allows their polyps to extend fully and gently sway without being blasted directly. Place this coral in the mid-to-upper levels of your rockwork, ensuring it has ample space for polyp extension. While primarily photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine-particulate foods like marine snow or zooplankton a few times a week can enhance growth and vibrancy. Maintain stable water parameters: Calcium 400-440 ppm, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Alveopora is a peaceful coral; ensure it has enough space so its polyps do not sting neighbouring corals.

Alveopora's open, flowing structure provides excellent visual depth and movement in a reef tank. Its vibrant pink hue can serve as a focal point among bluer or greener corals, creating a balanced and visually interesting display.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
