Purple Acropora

This stunning Purple Acropora will make a beautiful centerpiece in any reef aquarium. Its vibrant purple branches are covered in delicate polyps, adding intricate texture and color to your aquascape. Care for this Acropora involves providing high PAR levels, typically between 250-400, to maintain its intense coloration and promote optimal growth. Strong, turbulent flow is also crucial to keep the coral clean and deliver essential nutrients. A mid-to-high placement in your tank will generally be ideal.

While largely photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine-grained coral foods designed for SPS corals can encourage faster growth and richer coloration. Maintaining stable water parameters is paramount for Acropora. Aim for alkalinity between 7.5-8.5 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm.

Acropora are non-aggressive corals but their rapid growth can shade out or sting neighboring corals if placed too close. Ensure adequate spacing. Like all SPS corals, a slow and careful acclimation process, preferably drip acclimation over several hours, will minimize stress and help it adapt to your tank's conditions.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
