Description
Description
This Purple Chalice Coral boasts a vibrant purple base with striking green highlights, creating a captivating display. Its unique texture and coloration make it a focal point in any reef aquarium, adding depth and visual interest. This particular specimen is exceptionally healthy and shows excellent growth. Its encrusting growth habit will slowly spread over your rockwork, forming a beautiful colony. This coral is WYSIWYG.
Chalices thrive under moderate to low PAR (100-150 PAR is ideal). Too much light can cause bleaching, while too little can lead to a loss of coloration. Moderate, indirect flow is preferred to prevent detritus from settling on the coral tissue without irritating it. Placement on the bottom to middle of your rockwork is generally recommended.
While primarily photosynthetic, Chalice corals benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer small meaty foods like copepods, mysis shrimp, or coral-specific foods a few times a week, especially after the lights are out when their feeding tentacles are extended. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 75-78°F, Salinity 1.025-1.026, Alkalinity 8-10 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1300-1400 ppm.
Chalice corals are generally peaceful but can be aggressive towards other corals if they come into direct contact, due to their sweeper tentacles. Provide adequate spacing between them and other corals to avoid chemical warfare. Acclimate using a drip acclimation method over 30-60 minutes to minimize stress, as changes in water parameters can be detrimental.
This Purple Chalice Coral is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced reef keepers looking to add a splash of color and unique texture to their aquarium. Its relatively easy care requirements and stunning appearance make it a rewarding addition that will flourish with proper husbandry.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
