Description

This Chalice coral boasts a mesmerizing purple base adorned with vibrant neon green polyps, creating a striking contrast that will immediately draw the eye in any reef aquarium. Its irregular, plating growth form adds interesting texture and dimension to your aquascape, making it a truly unique centerpiece. The bright coloration of this coral will stand out under actinic lighting, providing a dazzling display of color. This is a WYSIWYG frag, meaning you receive the exact coral pictured.

Chalice corals thrive in moderate to low PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) lighting, typically between 75-150 PAR. Intense lighting can cause bleaching, so careful placement is key. Moderate, indirect flow is ideal, allowing the polyps to extend and capture food without being constantly battered. Placing it on a rock structure in the middle to lower regions of your tank will generally provide optimal conditions.

While primarily photosynthetic, Chalice corals benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer small, meaty foods such as target-fed Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral foods a few times a week. Maintain stable water parameters: alkalinity 8-10 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Temperature should be kept between 74-78°F, and salinity at 1.025-1.026 specific gravity.

Chalice corals can be aggressive, extending sweeper tentacles at night to sting neighboring corals. Ensure adequate spacing (at least 4-6 inches) from other corals to prevent damage. When acclimating, use a drip acclimation method over an hour or two to minimize stress. Monitor for any signs of stress, such as tissue recession or unusual coloration.

Adding this purple and green Chalice coral to your reef tank will provide a stunning focal point with its unique color combination and growth pattern. Its relatively straightforward care requirements make it suitable for both intermediate and experienced reef keepers looking to add a splash of vibrant color and captivating texture to their aquatic display.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
