Description

The Frammer coral is a popular large polyp stony (LPS) coral from the Euphyllia genus, a family that includes the familiar Hammer and Frogspawn corals. It gets its name from its unique tentacle shape, which sits somewhere between a Frogspawn and a Hammer. This particular specimen displays a deep purple colouration in its main flesh, making it a standout piece.

In a home reef, the Frammer coral develops a characteristic branching skeleton. Its polyps extend during the day, revealing tentacles with a split, hammer-like tip, but with a less defined shape than a classic Euphyllia ancora. The movement of these polyps in the current adds a gentle, hypnotic motion to the aquarium. This variant has rich purple tentacles, often complemented by small, contrasting coloured tips.

A Frammer coral requires stable water conditions to do well. It prefers moderate lighting, with PAR levels in the 75-150 range, so a spot in the lower to middle section of the tank is ideal. Water flow should be low to moderate and indirect, enough to make the tentacles sway gently without being blasted. Like other Euphyllia, it can be aggressive towards other corals. Its sweeper tentacles can extend several inches at night, so it needs to be placed with plenty of space—at least six inches from its neighbours. While photosynthetic, it will benefit from occasional target feeding of meaty foods. Keep calcium between 420-440 ppm and alkalinity between 8-9 dKH for healthy skeleton growth.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
