Description

Acropora are a well-known challenge for the advanced reef aquarist, rewarding dedication with fast growth and classic stony coral silhouettes. This Australian Acropora is a branching variety that displays a rich green colouration. It grows into the iconic staghorn shape that defines many a classic SPS reef.

In the wild, Acropora form vast thickets and tables that build the reef structure. In a home aquarium, this specimen will develop an open, branching colony. The coral's polyps are small and may be seen extended during feeding or at night. Under strong lighting with a blue-heavy spectrum, the green pigmentation for which this coral is known will become more pronounced.

Long-term success with Acropora depends entirely on system stability. It requires high light, typically in the 250-450 PAR range, and should be placed in the upper part of the tank. Strong, chaotic water flow is essential for nutrient exchange and waste removal from its dense branches. While primarily photosynthetic, it will benefit from regular dosing of amino acids or fine-particle SPS foods. Keep water parameters very stable: calcium at 420-440 ppm, alkalinity 8-9 dKH, and magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Give it ample space, as it will grow quickly in a healthy system and can be damaged by aggressive neighbours. Acclimation should be slow, with a gradual ramp-up of light exposure over a couple of weeks to avoid bleaching.

This coral is best suited to a mature reef tank with stable parameters, where it can become a focal point of an SPS collection. It is not recommended for new aquariums or those with fluctuating water chemistry.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
