Purple Green Chalice

This Purple Green Chalice coral is a stunning addition to any reef aquarium. Its vibrant purple base is dotted with striking green polyps, creating a captivating visual contrast. Chalice corals grow in an encrusting manner, forming unique and irregular shapes as they mature. This particular specimen exhibits a healthy coloration and well-extended polyps, indicating its robust health and adaptability.

Chalice corals thrive under moderate PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) levels, typically ranging from 75-150 PAR. While they are photosynthetic, supplemental feeding with fine-particulate foods like marine snow or zooplankton can promote faster growth and enhanced coloration. Moderate, indirect water flow is ideal to prevent sediment accumulation without causing tissue damage. Avoid direct, strong flow that can irritate the coral. It's best to place Chalice corals on the rockwork, giving them ample space to encrust and grow without shading other corals or being shaded themselves.

Maintaining stable water parameters is crucial for the health of Chalice corals. Keep salinity at 1.025-1.026, alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, calcium at 400-450 ppm, and magnesium at 1300-1400 ppm. Consistent temperature between 75-78 degrees Fahrenheit is also recommended. While Chalice corals are generally peaceful, they possess sweeper tentacles that can sting neighboring corals, especially at night. Provide adequate spacing to prevent aggression and potential damage to other inhabitants.

When acclimating your new Chalice coral, use a drip acclimation method over at least 30-60 minutes to slowly adjust it to your tank's water parameters. Once acclimated, place it in its desired location and monitor its response. Healthy Chalice corals will extend their polyps and maintain their vibrant coloration. Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
