Description
Description
This stunning Purple Hammer Coral displays rich, vibrant purple polyps with contrasting lighter tips, creating a captivating visual in any reef aquarium. Its elegant, flowing tentacles add dynamic movement and texture to your aquascape, making it a focal point. This particular specimen is healthy and accustomed to aquarium life, ready to thrive in your home system.
Hammer corals, a type of large polyp stony (LPS) coral, prefer moderate PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) lighting, typically between 75-150 PAR. Too much or too little light can cause stress. They also require moderate, indirect flow to keep their polyps clean and deliver nutrients without causing them to retract frequently. Placement on a lower to mid-level rockwork is often ideal, ensuring they have ample space to extend their sweeper tentacles.
While primarily photosynthetic, Hammer corals benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer small pieces of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp or copepods a few times a week. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature 75-78°F, salinity 1.024-1.026, alkalinity 8-12 dKH, calcium 400-450 ppm, and magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. These corals can be aggressive due to their sweeper tentacles, so provide adequate spacing from other corals, especially at night when their tentacles extend furthest. Acclimate slowly using a drip acclimation method for best results.
Adding this Purple Hammer Coral to your reef tank will provide a beautiful splash of color and graceful motion. Its relatively easy care requirements make it suitable for both intermediate and experienced hobbyists. Its robust nature and stunning appearance ensure it will be a cherished inhabitant for years to come, enhancing the overall aesthetic and biodiversity of your marine environment. This coral is a perfect choice for those looking to expand their LPS collection with a truly magnificent specimen.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
