Description
Description
This Purple Maze Brain Coral features stunning shades of deep purple with subtle hints of blue and green, creating a captivating labyrinthine pattern. Its robust and fleshy polyps are tightly packed, forming a solid, dome-shaped colony that adds a unique textural element to any reef aquarium. This particular specimen is WYSIWYG, ensuring you receive the exact coral pictured.
To thrive, this Maze Brain Coral requires moderate PAR lighting (100-200 PAR) and moderate, indirect water flow. Avoid direct, strong flow, which can irritate its delicate tissue. Place it on the sand bed or a stable rockwork structure in the lower to mid-section of your tank where it can expand without touching other corals. Ample space is crucial as this coral can be aggressive, extending sweeper tentacles at night.
While primarily photosynthetic, feeding this coral with meaty foods like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral foods 1-2 times a week will promote faster growth and vibrant coloration. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78°F, Salinity 1.025-1.026, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. Regular water changes are essential for overall health.
Acclimation should be done slowly using the drip acclimation method over 1-2 hours to minimize stress. Observe for any signs of stress such as tissue recession or failure to extend polyps. This coral is generally hardy once established, making it a rewarding addition for both intermediate and experienced hobbyists.
This Purple Maze Brain Coral is an excellent choice for adding visual interest and a touch of elegance to your reef tank. Its unique growth form and vibrant coloration will make it a focal point, bringing a dynamic and thriving feel to your underwater ecosystem.
Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
