Description

Acropora millepora is a classic small-polyp stony coral that has been a favourite in the hobby for years. It's known for its fuzzy appearance and beautiful branching growth forms. This particular variety has a distinct purple base colouration that holds well under stable reef conditions, making it a solid addition to an SPS collection.

In the wild, Millepora colonies often form dense thickets. In a home aquarium, they grow into a branching structure with relatively thick branches. The most notable feature is the long, hair-like polyp extension throughout the day, which gives the coral a soft, fuzzy look. This extension is a good sign of a happy, healthy coral. The purple colour is typically found in the coral's body, with the polyps sometimes having a slightly different complementary tone.

Like all Acropora, this species requires stable conditions to thrive. It needs high light levels, generally between 250 and 450 PAR, to maintain its colour and growth rate. Strong, intermittent water flow is also essential to keep its polyps clean and deliver nutrients. For water parameters, maintain calcium between 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-10 dKH, and magnesium between 1300-1400 ppm. Placement should be in the mid to upper regions of the rockwork. Allow several inches of space between it and other corals, as it can be aggressive.

This coral is a great choice for a mature SPS-dominant reef tank. Its growth pattern provides interesting structure and its care needs are representative of a healthy SPS system. Once it takes off, it is a relatively fast grower, so plan its placement with future expansion in mind. It pairs well with other high-light Acropora and Montipora species.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.

Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
