Description

This Purple Mycedium Chalice is a stunning addition to any reef aquarium, displaying vibrant hues of purple, blue, and green. Its unique bumpy texture adds visual interest and depth to your aquascape. Chalice corals grow in plating or encrusting forms, creating beautiful structures over time. This particular specimen is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) item, ensuring you receive the exact coral pictured.

Caring for your Mycedium Chalice involves providing moderate PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) lighting, typically in the range of 100-200 PAR. Too much light can cause bleaching, while too little can lead to dull coloration and slow growth. Moderate, indirect flow is ideal, allowing detritus to be swept away without directly blasting the coral. Placement on the bottom to middle of your rockwork is usually suitable, where it can encrust or plate outwards. Be sure to give it ample space as it grows, as it can be aggressive towards other corals.

While Mycedium Chalice corals primarily gain nutrition from photosynthesis, supplemental feeding can promote faster growth and enhanced coloration. Offer small meaty foods such as target-fed Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or specialized coral foods once or twice a week. Maintain stable water parameters: Temperature 74-78F, Salinity 1.024-1.026, Alkalinity 8-12 dKH, Calcium 400-450 ppm, and Magnesium 1250-1350 ppm. Consistent parameters are key to coral health.

Acclimation should be done slowly using the drip method over 1-2 hours to minimize stress. Monitor the coral closely for the first few weeks for any signs of stress or irritation. Due to its potential aggression, ensure adequate spacing from other corals to prevent stinging. This coral is a relatively hardy LPS and a great choice for both experienced hobbyists and those looking to add a unique and colorful piece to their established reef tank.

Its striking coloration and interesting growth habit make the Purple Mycedium Chalice a focal point in any reef environment. It will thrive with proper care and bring a dynamic splash of color to your underwater landscape, creating a captivating display for years to come.

Our Quarantine Procedures

We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.

As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.

Fish

All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.

Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.

During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.

Coral

Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.

Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.

If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed

If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.

Payment & Security

We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
