Description
Description
Alveopora is a long-polyp stony coral, often called flowerpot coral for the way its polyps extend from the base like a bouquet. These corals are related to Goniopora but can usually be distinguished by their polyps, which have 12 tentacles versus the 24 found on Goniopora. This particular strain shows a blend of colours across the polyp heads, giving it a rainbow-like appearance under good reef lighting.
The main feature of Alveopora is its long, flowing polyps that stay extended for most of the day in a healthy, established specimen. They sway with the current, creating a soft, active movement that contrasts well with more static corals. The multi-coloured nature of this variety is seen on the tips of the tentacles, which can display a range of hues from pink and green to yellow when the animal is well-acclimated and healthy.
For long-term success, Alveopora needs a stable environment and specific care. It prefers low to moderate lighting, around 75 to 150 PAR, and should be placed on the sandbed or on lower rockwork away from intense light. Flow must be gentle and indirect, enough to keep the polyps moving and free of detritus, but not so strong that they are battered or fail to extend. Historically difficult to keep, their survival in home aquariums has improved greatly with the understanding that they require regular feeding. Target or broadcast feeding with small particle foods like phytoplankton and amino acids several times a week is essential. Maintain standard water parameters with calcium at 420-440 ppm, alkalinity at 8-9 dKH, and magnesium at 1300-1400 ppm. Due to their long polyps, provide ample space between an Alveopora and its neighbours to prevent conflicts.
In a mature reef tank, a healthy Alveopora brings a unique form of gentle motion to the aquascape. It’s a good choice for hobbyists who can provide the consistent feeding and water quality it demands. Its peaceful nature makes it a safe tankmate, provided it has the personal space its long polyps require.

Our Quarantine Procedures
Our Quarantine Procedures
We take livestock seriously. That's why we don't sell anything we wouldn't be comfortable putting in our own tank.
As we are direct from source, we import and sell direct to the public. This means you can buy with confidence knowing EMA prides itself on excellent handling and conditioning protocols.
Fish
All our fish held in a quarantine system for a minimum of 3 weeks. During this time, regular water changes are performed, and twice daily (or sometimes more) feedings are performed.
Copper is dosed and checked twice a day for ich and velvet.
During this treatment fish are given formalin baths for brooklynella and a minimum of 3 praziquantel doses is performed for flukes.
Coral
Our coral is quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks, just like fish. During this time, regular water changes are performed, water testing done, and once a month a Fauna Marin ICP Total is performed.
Corals are inspected for pests/general health and are provided with a pest dip once a week for at least 3 weeks.
If we see signs of pests, the quarantine period is extended and/or additional dips are performed
If coral is bleached/unhealthy, it will remain in quarantine until healthy enough to sell.
Payment & Security
We offer a number of different payment methods, including Credit Card, Afterpay, Q Card, Pay at Collection, Bank Transfer and POLi.
Credit card payments are processed securely using the highest possible security protocols.
